Zooz Zen21-Zen24 Z-wave Smart Switch 3-way Installation
The Zooz Z-Wave Switches Zen21, Zen22, Zen23 and Zen24 wire in differently than other smart switches when it comes to 3-way circuits. To make smart switches more affordable, the Zooz switches allow you to use a normal mechanical switch as the remote switch, which can save USD $15 per circuit minimum.

When It comes to the early Zen switches (21-24), the mechanical switch must be rewired. This is not the case with the later Zen switches (26 & 27). The diagram below describes a common wiring method. Again, it’s important to determine how your existing three-way switch is wired before attempting the installation.

Once you’ve determined which method was used to wire in your three-way circuit, you’ll use the corresponding wiring solution for the Zen 21-24 series switches. Using the above diagram as a reference, the corresponding solution would be Solution A-1, as shown below.
